Alan was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1981 and is Certified by the LSUC as a Specialist in Civil Litigation.
Alan has argued cases in all levels of Court in Ontario, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Alan is also involved in the firm's Class Action practice group.

Alan is a contributing editor of the legal text Thomson, Rogers on Municipal Liability and regularly speaks and presents papers at legal conferences.
Alan and his wife Jennifer have three boys and live in Oakville, Ontario, where Alan is very involved as a volunteer in the Junior Lacrosse programs and with other community groups.
