Announcement of Alternative Dispute Resolution Process - Regarding Allegations of Sexual Assault By Dr. George Doodnaught at North York General Hospital
On March 11, 2010, Dr. George Doodnaught, an anesthesiologist who worked at North York General Hospital, was charged with alleged sexual assault on a number of patients undergoing surgery at the hospital. Those criminal charges remain before the Court and have not been proven.
Thomson, Rogers has been retained by more than a dozen women who allege that they were sexually assaulted while at North York General Hospital.
Agreement Reached with North York General Hospital
Thomson, Rogers is pleased to announce, on behalf of its clients, that an agreement has been reached with North York General Hospital to establish an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Process that will allow qualifying claimants to come forward and receive compensation in a fair and efficient manner (see press release).
By entering into this agreement, North York General Hospital has made it clear that they are prepared to have qualifying claims reviewed and resolved in an equitable manner, in a way that will avoid a lengthy legal process for its patients.
The ADR Process will have the stated goals of protecting patient confidentiality, recognizing and acknowledging qualifying claims, and providing fair and reasonable compensation for the claims.
