On June 17, 2010, Julie Osbelt – organizer par excellent and the rest of the worker bees of the Awareness Committee hit a home run. With perfect weather, a full survivors tent, the Helen Donnelly Performers artistic endeavours throughout Nathan Phillips square, plus the exceptional child musicians from the Karen Kain School of the Performing Arts who provided the musical lunch time tunes - no one in their wildest thoughts expected such a great event with absolutely no problems or concerns. All of which goes back to the great planning and all of the various committee members working together as a great team.
With all of the past years mired with bad weather, no one was going to let the weather get the best of them. This year though, the skies opened up and the most beautiful sunlight shone on the event. All of which added to the excitement and the atmosphere of everyone wanting to make this the best event ever and bringing to the public a general awareness of such a dramatic injury.
Joseph Pileggi – Director of Client Services, Jenny Guest, Elisa O’Neill, and Darcy Merkur – partner, co-ordinated Thomson Rogers involvement by helping to provide over 500 hotdogs and safety bags to well wishers and survivors.
Congratulations to the BIAM committee and special thanks to Helen Donnelly and her performers for making this a very special event.
