Sloan Mandel Says Plaintiffs’ Odds Improving In ‘David v. Goliath’ Medical Malpractice Cases in Law Times Article

On March 9, 2020, Thomson Rogers partner Sloan Mandel discussed “David versus Goliath” medical malpractice cases with Mallory Hendry of the Law Times in an article titled “Plaintiffs’ odds improving in ‘David v. Goliath’ medical malpractice cases.

Sloan Mandel, who has been practising in the area for more than 24 years says,

There’s a real problem with accessing justice in medical malpractice cases.

Mandel estimates that he takes 150 – 200 medical malpractice calls each year, but because of the nature of medical malpractice cases he conducts preliminary examinations on less than 10 and continues on with half that amount as potentially viable suits.

That’s not to say that, out of 200 people that call, only four have been the victims of medical malpractice — but only four might actually have access to justice.”
