Charlotte Brown sang and performed as part of the KKSA Band at the Brain Injury Awareness Month (BIAM) event two years ago. She is now in grade 10 at Etobicoke School for the Arts (ESA) and is studying drama and music. Through ESA, Charlotte and her friends became aware of a competition put on by the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) and decided to enter. This competition involved putting together a multi-media presentation about a charity of their choice in order to win money for that charity. They chose the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST).

Charlotte Brown formed a team with Adam Bovolitis and Mark Belsky, two of her former band mates from KKSA who also performed at the BIAM event. They all worked very hard to put together the presentation by gathering information about acquired brain injury from the BIST and OBIA websites and other sources as well as videotaping an interview with Chris Brown (her father and BIAM committee member) to learn more about the charity. A six month process of eliminations performed in front of the other students at the school led them to the finals where the performed their presentation, and screened their video to a team of six YPI judges.

We are thrilled to inform you that they won the Grand Prize! YPI will be issuing a cheque to BIST in the amount of $5,000.00.
