Forest Hill Scaffolding Collapses

Author(s): Stephen M. Birman

I literally went on a walk with my son past this scaffold site the day before this collapse. This accident caught my attention as I represent clients who were injured in a separate scaffold collapse. In cases like this the contractor owes a duty of care to the public to ensure that it carries out its work in safe manner. There are usually various statutory requirements governing this maintenance work under the Building Code and Occupational Safety Legislation. While I have no knowledge of the facts or circumstances leading to this collapse, I hope that a full investigation is carried out to ensure this does not happen again.
