What is Trauma?

“Trauma” refers to serious personal injuries sustained in an accident which may lead to devastating, life-changing and long-term repercussions.

If you suffer a trauma, you may be entitled to compensation. If the trauma occurred as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Ontario, you can be compensated through two sources – compulsory Statutory Accident Benefits (provided to you through your own car insurance policy) and a tort claim (A tort claim is a lawsuit against the person who caused your injuries).

Accident Benefits may cover:

  • Medical and rehabilitation services
  • Attendant Care Services
  • Funeral expenses
  • Loss of income from disability
  • Death benefits
  • Caregiver benefits
  • Non-earner benefits
  • Visitor expenses
  • Other expenses, like education costs, housekeeping and maintenance

What is a Trauma Lawyer?

A qualified trauma lawyer, commonly referred to as a personal injury lawyer, will advance claims on your behalf to ensure you are fully compensated for the physical, emotional, and/or financial injuries you suffered.

A qualified trauma lawyer will provide you with clear and comprehensive legal advice, advocate in and out of the courtroom for your rights, help you navigate the complex Accident Benefits claims process (if applicable) and put in place the rehabilitation team you need to help you or your loved one make the best possible recovery.

This is what we do at Thomson, Rogers.
